Things I learned
1. "Thin Slicing"- Split second when you do not even think about coming to a conclusion. Unconsciousness working. "We can alter the way we thin slice by changing the experience we comprise those expressions. What makes thin slicing possible is our ability to very quickly get below the surface of a situation."

In Chapter 5 Gladwell does case studies on the right and wrong way to ask people what they want. He believes that in many situations people will make snap decisions on questions they are asked because it is outside of their range of knowledge.

In Chapter 6 Gladwell shows how negative quick judgments of reading facial expressions can lead to a snowball effect of judging that person without having a one word conversation. It also shares that individuals with different types of brain damage or disorders cannot decode other individuals facial expressions. Gladwell proves that the adrenaline rush that results from quick judgements can make the brain mimic autism, temporarily making the brain not be able to to decode facial expressions.

Experiments
1. Love Game- Give a couple a topic and examine their emotions every second for 15 minutes. Able to determine whether couple will last or not.
2. Card Game- Blue; good Red; Bad 4 stacks of cards. People unconsciously start picking the blue cards because they know they are better.

Quotes
1. "First of all, we have our conscious attitudes. This is what we choose to believe. These are our stated values which we use to direct our behavior deliberately.
2. "The disturbing thing about the test is that it shows that our unconscious attitudes may be utterly incompatible with our stated conscious values.
